DID YOU KNOW
"Lefty" plays golf left-handed, but he is actually right-handed in everything else he does. Mickelson took to playing the game left-handed as he mirrored his father's right-handed swing during practice. Off the course, he contributes $100 per birdie and $500 per eagle to Birdies for the Brave, which donates money to Homes for Our Troops and Special Operations Warrior Foundation. Both organizations support wounded soldiers and families who have lost a member in combat. In April of 2006, he won his second Masters tournament in three years. It was his second straight major after he won the PGA Championship at Baltusrol in 2005. In 2007, he won the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am by five shots, and also won THE PLAYERS Championship and the Deutsche Bank Championship. In 2008, he won twice on the PGA Tour and was also a member of the winning U.S. Ryder Cup team. He kicked off his 2009 season with a second consecutive win at the Northern Trust Open using the new FT-9 Driver and Tour ix Golf Ball. Phil's second win of 2009 came at the WGC-CA Championship at Doral in mid-March, where he averaged 303 yards off the tee with his FT-9 Driver. He also chipped in four times with his X-Forged Wedges on his way to the one-stroke victory. It was his 36th career PGA win.
