Odyssey Staff Professional Julieta Granada Wins LPGA's ADT Championship, Earns Tour's First $1 Million Paycheck

Odyssey Staff Professional and LPGA rookie Julieta Granada won the Tour's prestigious, limited-field ADT Championship yesterday with a bogey-free final round 68 at Trump International in West Palm Beach, Florida, four under par and two shots clear of runner-up Lorena Ochoa. The title, earned after an 18-hole Sunday shootout contested among the top eight players of the 32-women field after cuts on Friday and Saturday, came with a $1 million first-prize check, the first-ever seven-figure payoff on the ladies' tour.

The win was the first for Granada, who turned 20 on Friday. She finished in the top 10 seven times in 2006, including a pair of second-place finishes. The winner's check in the LPGA's regular-season finale shot Granada up from 19th on the money list entering the tournament to fourth on the final list, her total of $1,633,586 in winnings the most ever by a tour rookie.

"It's just been incredible this whole week," said Granada, a native of Paraguay. "It was my birthday on Friday, and today I was really happy just to be playing. I just went out and played my game and it turned out to be the best score today. I'm so happy. I've been waiting for this all year. It's cool to get the biggest paycheck."
