"Lefty" plays golf left-handed, but he is actually right-handed in everything else he does. Phil took to playing the game left-handed as he mirrored his father's right-handed swing during practice. In April of 2006, Phil used his new White Hot XG Putter to win his second straight BellSouth Classic, finishing at 28-under-par, 13 shots clear of the field. One week later, he used it to win his second Green Jacket at the Masters. It was his second straight major after he won the PGA Championship at Baltusrol in 2005. Mickelson contributes $100 per birdie and $500 per eagle to Birdies for the Brave, which donates money to Homes for Our Troops and Special Operations Warrior Foundation. Both organizations support wounded soldiers and families who have lost a member in combat. |
